Download Minecraft 26.40.22 / 1.26.40.22 APK for Android free — a fresh Bedrock Beta from Mojang that continues polishing the Chase the Skies testing branch with a much deeper Sulfur Cube rework, Vibrant Visuals fixes, Realms improvements, multiplayer resource pack changes, and new technical updates for creators.
This build is especially important for players following the Sulfur Caves experiments, because Sulfur Cubes now behave less like hostile monsters and more like biome-specific interactive mobs. Grab the roughly 1 GB APK from the main download minecraft apk section to test the newest Beta on your phone.
Minecraft 26.40.22 Beta Overview
Minecraft 26.40.22 is not a classic content drop with new blocks or mobs, but it changes how several experimental systems feel in actual gameplay. The update focuses on Sulfur Cubes, Vibrant Visuals, Android multiplayer downloads, Realms menus, accessibility options, UI behavior, and creator tools.
For Android players, the most noticeable part of this Beta is the Sulfur Cube update. Mojang adjusted its spawning, sound behavior, sleeping interaction, bucket behavior, block ejection, and damage logic. That makes this version more valuable than a simple bug-fix patch, especially for players who explore Sulfur Caves and test experimental Bedrock features.

Sulfur Cube Rework in Minecraft 26.40.22
The main highlight of Minecraft 26.40.22 is the Sulfur Cube. In previous Beta builds, this mob still felt too close to a hostile creature in several situations. Mojang changed that direction in this update. Sulfur Cubes are no longer treated as hostile mobs, so they do not prevent players from sleeping, do not give the Monster Hunter achievement when killed, and are no longer attacked by conduits.
This is a meaningful gameplay change because it makes the mob fit better into Sulfur Caves. Instead of acting like a normal enemy, the Sulfur Cube becomes more of a special biome creature connected to sulfur mechanics, absorbed blocks, movement behavior, and environmental interaction.
New Sulfur Cube spawning rules
Sulfur Cubes can now spawn on the surface when the biome is Sulfur Caves. They can also appear regardless of light level. This makes the biome feel more alive and more consistent, because players no longer depend on very specific darkness conditions to encounter these mobs.
The update also fixes a problem where Sulfur Cubes could sink or stop moving after ejecting their absorbed block. This change should make the creature feel more stable during exploration, especially when it interacts with the terrain inside sulfur areas.
Bucket of Sulfur Cube changes
Minecraft 26.40.22 also adjusts the Bucket of Sulfur Cube. A Sulfur Cube spawned from a bucket no longer destroys snow layers. This is a small fix, but it matters for players who test mobs across different biomes or use experimental creatures in custom builds.
Magma block and Hot Sulfur Cube behavior
Sulfur Cubes that absorb a Magma Block no longer damage actors wearing Frost Walker enchanted boots. Mojang also fixed damage interaction between Sulfur Cubes and Hot Sulfur Cubes, so cubes without an absorbed block now take damage correctly from hot variants.
The Sulfur Cube is the strongest entity signal in this Beta. If you are testing Minecraft 26.40.22, start with Sulfur Caves, surface spawning, absorbed blocks, bucket behavior, and Magma Block interaction.
Vibrant Visuals and PBR Resource Pack Fixes
Sky rendering and underwater scenes
Minecraft 26.40.22 also improves Vibrant Visuals. Clouds, the sun, the moon, and stars now render correctly when the camera is underwater. This makes underwater scenes look more complete when the new graphics mode is enabled.
Mob visuals with PBR textures
The Beta also fixes corrupted mob visuals when Vibrant Visuals is used with PBR resource packs that include heightmap textures for actors. This is important for players who test modern resource packs, realistic textures, and advanced lighting effects on Bedrock Edition.
Items and Inventory Animation Fixes
Thrown Eggs no longer launch targets extremely high into the air. This fix removes a strange physics issue that could break normal combat, mob interaction, and multiplayer testing.
Shulker Boxes also received a visual correction. Their pickup-pop animation now plays properly in inventory slots again. It is a small detail, but it makes inventory feedback feel closer to normal Bedrock behavior.
Realms, Multiplayer Downloads and Low Storage Devices
Resource packs on low-storage devices
Minecraft 26.40.22 brings useful changes for players who join multiplayer worlds with resource packs. On devices with low available storage, cached resource packs from older sessions can now be cleared to make room for new packs. Resource packs also download one at a time, reducing the total temporary space needed during connection.
This is especially useful for Android users with limited storage, because large multiplayer packs can block world joining even when the phone still appears to have some free space.
Realms interface fixes
Realms also received interface fixes. Mojang fixed a profanity popup issue for Realm titles and descriptions, added more Realms-based loading tips, and corrected cases where some pack configurations worked locally but failed after being uploaded to Realms.
Accessibility and User Interface Changes
Screen distortion control for nausea and Nether portals
A new accessibility setting controls screen distortion caused by the nausea effect and Nether portals. This gives players more control over uncomfortable visual effects and makes the Beta easier to test for longer sessions.
Furnace, fire overlay and fullscreen fixes
The user interface also received several corrections. Sale price strikethrough alignment was fixed, furnace tabs were reordered, furnace recipes were adjusted, fullscreen mode now remembers the last screen, and the fire overlay was changed to look closer to Java Edition. The fire overlay was rotated and shifted down to improve visibility in the center of the screen.
Technical Updates for Creators
Actor component schemas and entity JSON in 1.26.40
Minecraft 26.40.22 includes several technical changes for add-on makers, map creators, and behavior pack developers. Actor component schemas are stricter in versions 1.26.40 and newer, so invalid entity JSON data can fail to load instead of being accepted silently.
Scripts, custom blocks and the multi-block trait
The update also releases Block.getParts to scripts version 2.9.0, changes fog-related scripting names, improves custom block behavior, releases the minecraft:multi_block trait, and allows custom stairs to form corners with vanilla stairs outside Beta.
For creators, this Beta is not just a gameplay patch. It is also a compatibility checkpoint for future Bedrock add-ons, custom entities, blocks, scripts, structures, and resource packs.
How to download Minecraft 26.40.22 on Android
The Beta is free, but official rollout through Google Play can take time depending on region and device. A manual APK is faster for players who want to test Minecraft 26.40.22 immediately on Android.
Before installing, back up your worlds. This is a testing version, and Beta builds can be unstable. Install the APK over your current MCPE build only if you understand that experimental changes may affect saves, resource packs, and multiplayer worlds.
Use a separate test world for Minecraft 26.40.22. Sulfur Cube behavior, Vibrant Visuals, Realms packs, and creator features may still change in future Beta builds.
When the package, file size and version number match, the Sulfur Cube rework, Vibrant Visuals fixes, multiplayer download changes and UI improvements are active.
For other builds in this branch, use the minecraft pe 26 download page.
