The Dappled Forest arrives in Minecraft 26.40.27

The headline of this drop is the Dappled Forest, a new forest biome that generates next to cold biomes. It is filled with Poplar Trees and Red Shrubs, and its passive mobs like sheep, foxes and rabbits spawn in their cold variants.

Poplar Trees and falling leaves

Poplar Trees come in red, orange and yellow leaf variants, each shedding matching colored leaf particles, and their logs craft into a full Poplar wood set. Saplings grow into a random color, so a planted row rarely looks the same twice.

Red Shrubs and Shelf Mushrooms

Red Shrubs grow in small patches and spread with Bone Meal, while Shelf Mushrooms grow on the poplars in two sizes, bounce slightly like a bed when stepped on, and can be cooked into stew or bought from a Wandering Trader.

Abandoned Camps and their loot

Scattered across forests, taigas, swamps and more, the new Abandoned Camp structure spawns with a design that matches its biome. Each camp hides Chests and Barrels of loot, giving you a real reason to explore the new wood up close.

Wool Stairs, Slabs and combat fixes

Building gets 16 colors of Wool Stairs and Wool Slabs to match the existing wool blocks. On the combat side, arrow damage now scales with velocity instead of being random, so a fully drawn bow finally rewards the charge. The Sulfur Cube is fixed too: an absorbed block now faces the right way, and you no longer get stuck standing inside one.
